Just a few tips and advice on what to look for when having your website designed. As a client sometimes you have a vision of what you want your website design to do and you might know what features you may want, but do you know what you NEED on your website design to be successful? The first tip is positioning of your logo.
Logo Position
– Always have your logo either to the far left of your website design or centered depending on the industry of your business. We always want you to look the best for the industry you are doing business in.
Contact information
– Having your contact information very visible on the home page either at the very top of the website or to the right of the logo right above the navigation bar. The reason why this is so important is because it effects the mobile view as well. When users are searching your website online the first thing that you want them to notice is a way to get in contact with you. You don’t want a user searching all over the website to look for contact information. Have it readily available is the best way to go. just a little side note, having it in the footer of your website is a best practice as well.
Mobile site
Studies show that about 78% of users search from their mobile device. Whether that is a phone or tablet or iPad, it’s very important that your website is mobilized for best performance when users are viewing your website from a mobile device. Note that you do not have to have a Mobile website, but you do need a responsive website.
You might ask “what’s the difference between a mobile website and a responsive website?” A mobile website is a separate website that is designed and built for mobile website. You can often tell it’s a mobile website by the bottom of the website where is says “view desktop version”. A Responsive website is the same exact website and responds to resolution or the size of the screen. I like to call the website that fits all screens.
