Everyone and most companies have a social media page. With Facebook having 1.55 billion monthly active users, Twitter has 288 million average users a month, and Instagram with 400 million users per month. Intimidating or motivating? Putting together a Facebook page feels like you are taking a boat into the middle of the ocean, jumping into the water and trying to swim back to shore with no direction of where the shore is. Ok, thats a little exaggerated, but when most of your competition is on there how do plan to run in the rate race?
How can it be so hard?
The level of involvement is whats so hard for people and businesses. Consistency is key to your success with social media. I’m not saying that you have to post something everyday, but you have to consisted with your posting schedule. For an example if you post once a week to social media then you should always post once or more a week, but don’t post once a week then leave your audience hungry without any interaction for 2 weeks or even worst a month. Don’t get me wrong it is perfectly fine to post everyday, that only works in your favor.
What should I post about?
Listen, lets not over think this. You know that having a company, you wouldn’t want to post anything that would tarnish your brand or make your company look bad. When posting the objective is to engaged people in a way that it makes them to interact with your company. Ask questions, post thought provoking images or text that would make someone stop, like it, and or even better share it. Understand that you are the ambassador of your business and you want to give advice about your services and guide people in your industry.
Which social platform is best for me?
There’s no best social platform because they all serve different purposes to contribute to a businesses success. Twitter is good for consistently giving information really quick without being formal and very quick way to connect with your followers. Facebook offers a little more with being able to post longer messages with pictures and videos easily accessible. With Facebook you also can promote your business with your website a lot easier. A really good feature about Facebook is that when you post a link from your website it attaches breadcrumbs with a picture from your website so it makes your post more attractive. Instagram is obviously just for pictures, but pictures say a 1,000 words.
How does social media work with my website?
The best way to make sure your website is active with your social media is to integrate your social media with your website. Also another great way is if you blog on your website (which you should be doing) is to have automatic social poster. With this tool on your website it allows your post form your website to update your social media pages automatically. This saves time from you having to copy and paste your link to your new post from your website on each individual social website. Also when you use this tool it also includes the picture as well.
The End
All in all make sure your website is the center of everything that goes on with social media. Don’t be distraught about not having a lot of “likes” and shares because it all helps with your SEO at the end of the day. The more content you post on social networks the more referral traffic you gain in the end. A Lot of people will skip right over “liking” or sharing a post and click over to your website.
Lets do a social media check
- Stay consistent
- engage your audience. Answer questions, thank them, follow them back
- Try not to over think being social. That’s kind of funny when you say it out loud.
- Give a link back to your website for them to get more information
- Remember you don’t always have to be selling an item when posting. Better yet, it’s better not to sell. Give away free advice and tips
- Your website and your business must be evident and the focus of your post. Even if your post is outlandish some how relate it back to your website.
